Who we are

About our Church

At Nettles Island Church, we believe that church is more than a building – it’s a family. Rooted in the heart of our island community, we are an inter-denominational gathering of believers united by the love of Christ and a shared commitment to grow in faith and serve others.

Our doors are open to everyone, regardless of background, tradition, or where you are on your spiritual journey. Whether you’re seeking a place to worship, searching for answers, or longing for connection, you’ll find a warm, welcoming community ready to embrace you.

We celebrate the beauty of diversity and believe that each person adds something special to our shared faith journey. Together, we laugh, cry, worship, and serve – reflecting God’s grace and love in all we do.

Come as you are, and discover a place where you can belong, believe, and become.

OUR MISSION OF FAITH

At Nettles Island Church, our mission is to reflect God’s love, inspire hope, and build a welcoming community where all can grow in faith and serve with joy.

We are dedicated to nurturing spiritual growth, fostering genuine connections, and extending God’s grace beyond our church walls – reaching out to our neighbors, our island, and the world with compassion and humility.

Rooted in unity and guided by Christ’s teachings, we strive to create a place where hearts are healed, lives are transformed, and everyone feels at home.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

1. The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings.

2. In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3. That Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, is at the right hand of the Heavenly Father, and is now our High Priest and Advocate.

4. That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, and indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service.

5. That man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is, therefore, lost, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

6. That the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His Resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and, thus become children of God.

7. That baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation.

8. That the true Church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ.

9. That Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church and that every local church has the right, under Christ, to decide and govern its own affairs.

10. In the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.

11. In the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.

OUR STORY

A Legacy of Faith and Community

Nettles Island Church has been a cornerstone of spiritual growth and community connection in Jensen Beach, Florida, for over four decades. Established on October 11, 1982, as a non-profit organization, the church has continually opened its doors to individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive environment where faith and fellowship flourish.

Our Beginnings

The church’s roots trace back to Memorial Day weekend in 1972, when Reverend L.C. Campbell, Jr. was invited to conduct a worship service for lot owners and their guests on Nettles Island. The positive response led to regular Sunday services, and shortly thereafter, Sunday school classes were introduced for young people, emphasizing Bible study and spiritual education.

Growth Through Fellowship

In August 1977, a small group seeking deeper study and fellowship initiated the Wednesday Morning Bible Study, agreeing that the Bible alone would be their guide for growth. This gathering allowed participants to personally benefit from God’s Word and become more aware of their blessings and each other.

By Easter Eve 1978, the church held its first Candlelight Communion Service, which evolved into a regular worship service and a time of Christ-centered fellowship enjoyed by all ages.

Leadership

Under the compassionate guidance of Pastor Rob Volpe, Nettles Island Church continues to thrive as a beacon of hope and love. Pastor Rob’s dedication to teaching and his genuine care for the congregation inspire a shared commitment to live out the teachings of Christ in everyday life.

Our Impact on the Community

Deeply embedded in the fabric of the Nettles Island community, the church actively participates in various outreach programs and supports numerous missions, including Carenet, Dunklin Church, Elev8hope, Fairlawn Church, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, International Focus Ministries, Joshua’s Promise, Our Daily Bread, Salvation Army, Voice for The Children, and WCNO Radio.

Through these efforts, Nettles Island Church extends its reach beyond the island, touching lives with compassion, generosity, and the transformative message of the Gospel.
